The steamer Telegraph was christened by Miss May Panter as it slid into the Coquille River from Hermann Bros yard near Prosper. Built for the Myrtle Point Transportation Co, the stern wheeler aims to be the river’s speediest craft, with freight space on the lower deck and two passenger cabins on top. It will run Dora’s route to Bandon after launch in six weeks to two months. A submerged log collision marred the outing but caused no injuries. Captain Panter calls for action to remove river sinkers.

Henryville shooting victim dies. inquest names James Ferrari
John Kelly who was wounded in the Henryville shooting on February 14 died last week. At the inquest the jury found Kelly died from a gunshot wound and that a crime was committed with probable cause to believe James Ferrari, owner of the blind pig where the trouble started, guilty. Ferrari is held pending a grand jury investigation.
