Grandma Mary Miller Rites Set Amid Oregon Ties
Grandma Mary Miller age eighty two four months fourteen days died at her daughter Mrs Peter Axe home near Bridge. Born Evans in Missouri she moved with parents to the south then north Missouri before the family settled in Oregon in 1875. She married Martin Miller in 1903 who preceded her. Survived by eleven children twenty two grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She joined Freewill Baptist church in 1858, later The Christian Church. Funeral tomorrow with interment at Dera Cemetery North Fork Grants Pass.

Myrtle Point and Broadbent delegates were present and railroad officials promised to push a same day mailing schedule from Portland.

The Oregonian reports a Ridgefield Washington man owning an 1830 coin and Myrtle Point Oregon resident Mrs J S Arrington possessing a 1824 half dollar. The coin features a smooth unmilled edge with 50c molded in and Libertas on the front, the reverse shows a spreading eagle with spears, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and PLURIBUS UNUM above, 50c below. It has been in her family for over thirty years.

Salem Oregon February 1 House bill 460 introduced by Representative Laugaard provides for regulation of auto stages and motor busses used as common carriers on state highways. Owners must obtain a license from the public service commission with a $50 deposit and show route time and rate schedules. License fee is $15 and drivers face a $1 examination fee. Commission may adjust schedules and may forfeit licenses after a hearing within five days. Provisions cover county roads only, not city jitneys.
