Tax Levy For Next Year Fixed Coquille Oregon

Coos County Commissioners set the 1915 tax levy at twenty mills a reduction of one mill from last year. They trimmed $3000 from the $15,000 advertising and donation budget to $12,000, with some areas in the county facing higher levies than last year. The Port Orford Tribune highlights Eckley stock farm run by H C Hampton on 1000 acres where Hereford cattle and silage feed drive rapid growth and potential profits. Hampton’s operations include 87 calves on a 120 ton silo feeding program. contracts may reach 8 to 10 cents as calves near 800 pounds. He runs about 200 head and stockmen watch his method for twin-crop beef potential and lower feed costs. National leaders will speak at Oregon State College Farmers Conference Week February 1 to 7, with six federal experts addressing rural issues.

Guardian Appointed for Arthur Coach in Coos County

Judge John F. Hall appointed Mrs. Leo J. Cary guardian for her brother Arthur Coach of Coos County. The son of the late Col. Coach of Bandon, he has faced financial and personal troubles, including alleged liquor issues, amid inheritance from a half million dollar estate. Arthur Coach is noted as a skilled lumber scaler and an erratic figure with a history of losses in business ventures.

Dinner dance honors Coos & Curry Telephone Co staff

Marshfield December 28 The Coos Bay Times recaps a dinner dance at the Chandler hotel for Coos and Curry Telephone Co employees and visiting operators from Coquille Valley North Bend and Marshfield.
