Life sketch of the late Dr Milton Stemmler
Funeral services for Dr Milton Oscar Stemmler were held at his family home after he died near North Bend last Thursday. Rev Sutton Mace preached. Masons led the service with L H Pearce in charge. Stemmler, born near Fort Smith Arkansas, spent much of his life in Coos County and Myrtle Point. He married Marie Barton in 1905 and leaves a wife, four children, a father J P Stemmler, two brothers and two sisters. He practiced medicine in Myrtle Point and was active in local affairs and lodges. Insurance totals about ten thousand dollars.

Salem from December 13. The Oregon State Tax Commission says the 6 percent tax limit allows a levy of $2,699,250 for next year for state institutions and $224,250 for improvements. The levy caps at $2,699,250 on a valuation of about $878 million, with a millage of about 3.1. Decreased valuation raises millage. $224,250 for improvements may be absorbed by other appropriations. The commission notes no funds are provided to match federal road aid or aid sectarian or charitable institutions. The issue shifts to the legislature to craft ways to fund state government while staying within the amendment.
