Natural gas blast rips through a $10,000 residence owned by W A Weaver. Four walls collapse while roof lifts into the air. All occupants escape with minor injuries. Mrs Weaver and two children were hurled from a second floor window. a servant girl at the back door is blown clear. Plumber injured slightly. cause blamed on his carelessness. Other items briefly noted include Japan Renounces a Treaty Clause and boxing results in Francea.
The annual interior department report urges Congress to reclaim and dispose lands in arid regions and considers state control for reclamation. Columbia Missouri December 1 Dr Thomas Powell of Columbia claims a universal inoculation against diseases by germ theory vaccination and has written for scientific journals He has entered a $9000 agreement with California capitalists for one third interest and plans a Los Angeles sanitarium for trials.
Tacoma reports a major conference of Pacific coast lumbermen to be held in Cincinnati on December 15 1806. Chicago lumbermen issued the call last month and national lumber associations were invited to send delegates to press for tariff action over the next four years. Pacifico Pine Lumber Company of California and the Manufacturer's Association of the Northwest will send representatives.
A major blaze on Sparks Street Ottawa gutted Mrs Turner's confectionery McDonalds furnishing store and G M Holibrooke clothier causing extensive damage to Turner's McDonald’s and Holibrooke buildings. The Scottish Rite hall on top floor lost its paraphernalia. The fire spread from Walbrooke to Rose Co dry goods. Estimated loss about 400000.
