Lambert Throws Four Wrestlers in Record Forty-Seven Minutes

In a handicap bout at the Pioneer Theatre Powers Geo Lambert aimed to throw four men in an hour and succeeded in forty seven minutes. Art Parry lasted nine minutes, Del King and Lambert wrestled 22 minutes with Lambert on the hold. Huff and Rose lasted nine and seven minutes respectively. A match with Charles Rentrop of Los Angeles is set for next Monday August 23 at the same venue. Rentrop will throw Lambert twice in one hour.

Myrtle Point approves sewer district creation and water deed

The city council accepted the deed from Geo Mullen for the Mullen Spring water right and agreed to pay $200. It created Sewer District No. 1 with broad boundaries outlined along First Street and surrounding avenues. An ordinance licensing peddlers was adopted and Railroad Avenue improvement plans were discussed, but a six inch water bound macadam proposal failed to pass with one dissenting vote.

Telephone Rates in Coquille Probed by Public Commission

Frank J. Miller of the public service commission and aides examined Coos-Curry and Coquille Valley Telephone Co. filings for rate hikes in Coquille, with hearing adjourned to November 1 in Salem. He criticized dual systems in the town. Coos-Curry seeks to buy Coquille Valley, farmers line, terms not met. Business Men's Association objects to higher rates unless systems are consolidated or duplicative charges removed.

Fourth Farmers Exchange Sales Day Set for August 25

The Tapathly Farmers Exchange invites buyers and sellers to come Wednesday August 25 for trading horses cows produce and more. Proceeds from a chicken dinner served by Myrtle Feint Grange at Lundy Hall support local activities with plates at 35 cents each.

Voters Endorse 20 Mill Tax For Myrtle Point School

At a special meeting held at the Grammar School Building the 20 mill tax was approved by 15 to 3 votes. The tax will cover warrants interest on bonds and help keep Myrtle Point High School at standard status. Pendleton starts construction of a 9,000 steel bridge.

The 1915 Cool and Curry County Fair features a Better Babies Contest to educate parents on child health and development. Divisions cover age groups from 12 to 48 months with boy and girl classes, medals awarded to top scorers, entries restricted to ages 12 to 48 months.

The Coos County Moose celebration in Bandon featured parades and decorated streets by the Band and Coos Bay Moose lodges.
