Pioneer Andrew Hoover Dies in California at 73

Andrew Hoover a Coos County pioneer died at his Fruitvale home Calif at seventy three after a fall while working as a carpenter. He came to Coos county in 1875 and later lived in Douglas county before moving to California in 1891. He leaves a wife Minerva Harriett two sons James L Hoover Wilbur A Hoover five daughters and siblings Willis Hoover and Laura Robison. Funeral was at his residence with interment in Evergreen cemetery Oakland.

Seventh Annual Coos County W C T U Convention Held at North Bend

The Seventh Annual Coos County W C T U convention met August 9 at the North Bend Presbyterian church. Delegates from Bandon Coquille Marshfield Myrtle Point and North Bend elected officers, heard talks on citizenship temperance public health and morals, and heard state president C H Marsh speak on pro prohibition laws. A luncheon was served by North Bend ladies and closing devotional and songs followed.

Proposals Sought for Myrtle Point Post Office Quarters

D E Wood, a post office inspector from Roseburg, called for proposals for quarters for the Myrtle Point office. Bids due August 25 cover five or ten year terms starting October 1 1915 and must include rent light heat water. Quarters require at least 1000 square feet and location within reasonable distance of the business center and not more than eighty rods from the railroad depot.
