A late Friday report details a knife and revolver confrontation on the county road in front of Camas Valley post office. Benham pursued by Boren after a heated clash, both men injured, Lambert an eye witness, sheriff to decide next steps.
Portland Telegram quotes Mr Maris highlighting Coos and Curry counties resources dairy timber fish and livestock with plans to promote loganberry juice and regional agriculture. He cites rail access health climate and education as strengths and announces the Coos and Curry county fair set for September 25 28 including a children's industrial day.
Miss Alma Gitchel, reader and Emerson College graduate from Boston, will present a program at the Unique Theatre on Wednesday evening. The entertainer showcases selections from Eugene Ficki James Whitcomb Riley and Rudyard Kipling plus pieces by David Kennedy and E Vance Cooke. Her act includes numbers appealing to both children and adults, with recommendations for her ability as an entertainer.
The body of Mrs Liggett was found in the Coast Fork of the Willamette River near Cottage Grove. Authorities believe suicide after a period of illness. her husband was killed by a train a year ago. She was mother to Mrs Pulford and sister of C C Cartier, with other daughters in Marshfield and Portland. Mr Pulford assisted with arrangements and burial.
The Oregon Agricultural College in Corvallis reports the formation of the Senior Industrial Educational Association of Oregon. J S Landers Pendleton named first president with Prof R D Heisel as secretary treasurer. Chapters planned in each county to promote industrial education in schools statewide. Membership open to all over 18. junior clubs planned to include children.
The Southwestern Oregon District of the Latter Day Saints will hold its annual reunion and encampment at Dixon Grove from August 16 to 25. Families from across the district are expected, with some camping on site and others staying with Myrtle Point friends. Chief speakers are Elder M. H. Cook and Elder C. E. Crumsley. Daily preaching at 10:45 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. with prayer and social services in between plus conference and Sunday school work.
