The Myrtle Point city council met last Monday to discuss issuing 15 000 in sewer bonds to fund city sewers. A mass meeting for voters is scheduled for Friday April 3 at the Benson Opera House to discuss the bond measure and the Street Intersection Improvement Amendment ahead of the April 14 election.
The Christian Church notes announce a Temperance Day next Lord's Day with morning and evening programs. Activities include an object lesson and children’s sermon at 10, a morning sermon at 11, a temperance address with songs, and an 8 p m evening sermon on Our duty at the Ballot Box. Special songs, a voter invitation to Myrtle Point, and an 7 p m Endeavor follow. The debate announcement will be made at the evening service. New song books and electric lights expected. Friday April 3 at 8 o'clock features a Sunday school entertainment with a free will offering at the door. All evening services shift to start half an hour later after April 1. Ellsworth E. A. F. Gardiner suffered a fractured skull in a Burdett mill mishap while Bert Tolman escaped unharmed after a tree fell. The limb struck Gardiner on the head injuring his neck and chest. he remained conscious, drifted toward recovery, and Dr. Dunlap attended him as his wife arrived from Harbor.
A letter from W. C. Fensler notes one year in Myrtle Point as a reason against serving on the city council. He thanks voters for the honor and declines, citing the advantage of older citizens to look after local interests.
Governor West announced by telephone from Salem that April 25 will be Good Roads Day in Oregon. He urged 100000 men to toil on local roads, with women providing lunches and Portland workers on the Columbia River highway under expert direction. A prize will be awarded for the most work done by local organizations.
The Golden Beach Globe reports a warrant sworn for Geo. L. Mayer in the February murder of Willard Eisenhart at Chetco. Mayer, previously acquitted by a coroner's jury, fled to Coos county. deputies pursue as Harbor Grand Jury readiness and preliminary hearing loom. The paper emphasizes seeking truth without presuming guilt.

McCloskey reports selling a 2 ton Reo truck to Ray Hyde of Fairview for milk hauling to the creamery. Chas Schroeder returns from Southern California with health improvements for his wife and plans to build on his riverfront place. Alfred Johnson, Jr. of Coquille seeks sheriff nomination. Little Winner road graders purchased for local districts. McCalley Entertainment at Unique drew a fair crowd. L. C. Bargett resigns from Evening Record to take a job printing plant.
Oregon Senator Harry Lane urges free tolls for all nations using the Panama Canal, proposing an international police system and tolls to fund operation. Senator Chamberlain backs free tolls for American coastwise ships and seeks figures on river and harbor spending to influence final debate.
Receipts show weekly tax collections with amounts recorded for March dates including Friday 20 and Saturday 21 totaling 3 695 69 and 11 533 46. Entries for March 23 and 25 list 6 758 89 and 9 838 06 with unclear data for March 24 and 26.

The Coos County Fire Patrol Association, formed in spring 1910, reports growing membership and acreage patrolled. Twenty one wards employed, state salaries for supervising wardens and a patrolman, eight fires with $240 loss in equipment, and ongoing needs for trails, fire traps removal, and telephone line repairs to boost efficiency.
The Guthrie McDougal Co of Lewis Building Portland receives the award to construct municipal dock No. 2 in Portland for 229 447 dollars. Oregon Blue Sky Jaw faces a second suit amid investor opposition.
The Myrtle Point line of the Oregon Power Co extends 1500 feet to J. N. Jacobson’s farm one mile east of town to supply current for a two horse power electric milking machine. It is the first such device in the Coquille area and visitors at the Jacobson farm will watch its operation with interest.
A state university program, with the fish and game commission and Federal Biological survey, will house a wet stocked museum of Oregon fauna. The project covers years and aims to preserve specimens of otters deer wolves mountain sheep goats and scarce birds for education and statewide biological records.
Mollala Oregon March 30 Mrs C A Moomaw of Molalla and Mrs Casper Oleson of Astoria sisters met here last week for the first time in their lives. Mrs Moomaw was born in Coquille 29 years ago when her sister was five. After their mother died the family was scattered. The sisters had corresponded but never met until now.
A Meade county town marks All Feels Day with pranks such as a barrel sign near Myrtle Baths and chained placards. Locals gather in storefronts to witness revelers, while a fire gong incident draws volunteers downtown. The noted punishment would fine the guilty party one month’s wage to fund the fire department.
The Latter Day Saints Church lists Sunday school at 10 a.m. preaching at 11 a.m. and 7 30 p.m. Z R L Society meets at 6 30 p.m.
Willamette University Glee Club tours Coos County and will perform at Unique Theatre on Tuesday April 7. The twenty-voice group offers a wide repertoire with recitations and sketches from operas. Tickets are on sale at Wilson's confectionery. advance sales encouraged.
Port of Coquille River commissioners received a letter from Congressman W C Hawley dated March 24 1914 outlining his appearance before the Board of Engineers for Rivers and Harbors. He described studying river data and river trip notes and stated they had a good case for improving the Coquille River from Coquille City to Myrtle Point.
Oregon Agricultural College bacteriologist T. D. Beckwith offers free cultures of alfalfa bacteria and other legume cultures to farmers who mail name crop acreage and two weeks notice. Postage is the only charge, about ten cents per culture. Cultures have aided farmers for years and include full usage directions.
