Illinois Secretary of State Rose is reported to seek the Republican nomination for governor. Springfield dispatch notes the move aims to place his chief aide in a statewide race.
Probate Judge Cleveland ruled in New Haven that the will of Philo Bennett granting $50,000 to W. J. Bryan was made without undue influence. The relatives who challenged probate claimed Bryans influence, but the court found no evidence of coercion. Bennett left the sum to Bryan to promote specified political doctrine.
