A Crosby Transportation Line steamer named Naomi caught fire and burned to the water’s edge today. Reports say numerous passengers perished with several injured as crews battled the blaze and evacuated the remaining vessels.
The president delivered a strong address urging immediate improvement of streams and waterways. He called for swift action to assist manufacturers and ensure cleaner, safer watercourses.
A fire injured many passengers and seriously burned one traveler who died in the hospital a few hours later. Emergency crews responded quickly, aiding several others saved from the blaze.
Grand Rapids May 21 The steamer Naomi burned to water's edge on the Milwaukee run. Fire began in the kitchen and swept the ship, four coal passers perished in their bunks. J M Rhodes of Detroit died after rescue. Capt Traill last to leave, crew praised for bravery as passengers reached port in small boats.

A rear end collision on the Panhandle railroad at Holliday's Cove West Virginia left one laborer dead seven fatally injured and another slightly hurt as a work train backed into a freight car crushing the caboose with several men aboard.
Imperial customs authorities in Tien Tsin seized eight thousand rifles three hundred fourteen? rounds and eight thousand bayonets intended for revolutionary purposes. The seizure created a sensation among authorities and onlookers in the port city.

It unanimously adopted Redmond's resolution condemning the measure as utterly inadequate and unsatisfactory and urged the Irish party to oppose it in parliament. It called for a native parliament with control over all purely Irish affairs.
Sioux City reports robbers cracked the safe of the Winnevato City Bank in Winnebago County Nebraska and escaped with twelve hundred dollars. The robbery occurred early today, thirty miles south of Sioux City.
Des Moines May 21. John F Wheatley and George H Whitttick of Keokuk were each fined 200 dollars in federal court for running a lottery.

Odessa reports a Black Hundred outbreak following the assassination of three police officials at the central police bureau. Fifty three Jews were hospitalized with severe injuries from broken heads and limbs. about one hundred more were hurt lightly. Victims included women children and students.
