Nixon economy plan outlined by new chief
President Nixon will not seek tax deductions or wage price controls and will veto a 5.6 billion public works bill. John Connally, named chief economic spokesman, says unemployment may fall to 4.5 percent by mid 1972, though 4 percent is unlikely. The economy remains at 6.2 percent unemployment with inflation near 5 percent.
