Drivered students may gain licenses without patrol exam
Iowa bill allows the state safety commissioner to substitute a driver education certificate for the final test given by highway patrolmen. The move would shift driver competency oversight to teachers, with possible random testing and reimbursement changes for schools. The plan aims to ease patrol examiner workload while keeping quality checks via percentage testing and teacher-led instruction.
