Reports from San Juan Del Sur dated June 8 state government forces control most of the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua with Acoyapa and Port San Ubaldo claims denied as false.
Des Moines dispatch reports E D Woolfern of Hopkins Missouri and his son were badly hurt when a tire burst sending their large touring car into a ditch. Mrs Woolfern and another woman escaped injury as they were en route to Chicago via Des Moines. Woolfern, a wealthy banker, sustained two broken ribs and the son a broken shoulder. The party was cared for at a farmhouse.
Thad deus E. York, alleged to be wanted in many cities on forgery charges, was arrested in Seattle last night. Authorities say his forgeries over the past three years netted about $100000.
Stanhope Iowa reports a double bereavement for Henry H. Warner of the Stanhope Mail after his separated wife in Indiana died at the bedside of their ill son. The child fell ill with diphtheria and died, triggering the mother’s death the same day.

United States Senator Samuel Douglas McEnery of Louisiana died at his home in New Orleans at 10 o clock this morning after a recent illness of indigestion. He was 74 and had long battled poor health. An independent Democrat, he often sided with Republicans on tariff measures. Governor Sanders is expected to succeed him and the legislature is arranging his election.
In Chicago on June 28 the Browne bribery trial jurors remained unable to agree. Judge McSurely summoned the jurors, urging cautious consideration of the court’s question and stressing the duty to reach a verdict without violating any juror’s own convictions.
New York stocks fell to the year's low in early trading with St Paul, Atchison, Hill, U S Steel and Amalgamated Copper among decliners. A sharp early drop was followed by a strong late recovery as bears pursued the market, closing near last night's levels.

Mrs Sherman wife of Vice President James Schoolcraft Sherman has been a patient at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore since Friday. Officials confirm a breakdown but say the case is not serious and provide no further details on the illness. She passed a fairly good night.
Paterson New Jersey June 28 fire swept the Main street block from Ward to Market causing about 500000 dollars in damage. Five firemen were injured by falling walls others had narrow escapes as flames raged through the buildings.
Ibrahim Wardani, an Egyptian nationalist student, was hanged for shooting Boutros Pasha Ghali, the Egyptian premier, on February 20. Ghali died the next day, as Wardani cited government acts blamed on Ghali. Roosevelt denounced the assassination during a Cairo visit.

In Van Horn, Iowa, on June 28 little Wilford Andrews was fatally struck by a traction engine after he fell. His father was unconscious from a prior blow and the assailant faces a preliminary hearing. The boy’s death follows a history of family misfortune including a prior child’s acid tragedy.
Cambridge Mass June 28 The Harvard law school commencement featured Attorney General Wickersham as speaker arguing that college trained lawyers will solve major government economic questions. He praised living law learned from judged cases and warned against relying on Blackstone alone. He discussed public utilities control and antitrust law, urging broader interpretation of Sherman Act to curb corporate power.
Berlin reports Baron Von Ei derlen Waeicher was appointed secretary of state for foreign affairs, succeeding Wilhelm Edler Von Schoen who becomes German ambassador to France. Von Schoen takes over from Prince Von Radolin, who retires to private life.
Des Moines, Iowa, June 28. Private J Garnett of Troop D Sixth U S Cavalry died when his Springfield rifle exploded while cleaning it. He enlisted in Brooklyn, New York, September 3, 1909.
