Dear Aunt Sadie Sees Joliet and Marquette Voyage Return
A Muscatine Gazette brief notes a 20th anniversary observance of Joliet and Marquette exploration. Seven men in 20 foot canoes reenact the 3,000 mile voyage, arriving near River View Park at 2 p.m. Sunday with a 3 to 5 p.m. Musser Museum reception. The piece cites 1923 coverage of a similar welcome and includes a quip about oratory then and now.
