Kent Feeds Training Center Hosts Three Day School
Kent Feed dealers and salesmen from eight midwestern states gather at the Kent Feeds Training Center in Muscatine for a three day school. Sessions cover livestock feeding programs management nutrition animal care and Kent research data. A tour of the Kent Research Farm is planned with poultry swine and cattle feeding trials. Directed by Mel Carlson the education department head this event is one of four yearly programs to update dealers and staff on new developments.

Break-in at Barb and Ray's cafe in Wapello
WAPELLO The Wapello Sheriff's Department investigated a break-in at Barb and Ray's cafe Saturday night. Entry was gained by breaking a back door window and prying the door. Missing were 77 cartons of cigarettes four cases of beer and assorted steaks and pork chops valued at 350 dollars.

The Muscatine County Museum and Fine Arts Association staged a Tri Centennial program featuring early maps prints navigational instruments and Indian artifacts with outdoor reenactments by voyagers and a musical program by Muscatine Community College Singers. Prizes were awarded in the Tri Centennial art contests and a $250 prize to a Paul Norton painting joined the permanent collection.

79th Lutheran Homes Festival Celebrates Community
The 79th annual Lutheran Homes Festival drew several hundred visitors including former residents and their families. A worship service at 10 a.m. and a 2:30 p.m. festival service featured music by a staff choir directed by Mrs. Shirley Drake. Organist Mrs. Orra Mullenix and special morning music by Mrs. Drake complemented Rev. Donald D. Johnson of the American Missions for the American Lutheran Church, a former Lutheran Homes board member, who spoke at the event. Zion Lutheran Church provided afternoon refreshments.
