Muscatine Sets Bids for 1967 Street Project
The Muscatine council set Thursday July 6 at 8 p.m. to open bids for 1967 street improvements under program No. 215. Seven streets remain for paving after two were removed following residents’ objections. Alan McElwee approved amended proposals and a local resident will fund 200 feet of the Lincoln Boulevard alley. A missing canoe case on the Mississippi River prompted an investigation by sheriff deputies.

Brad Titus son of Mr and Mrs Lowell Titus earned Eagle Scout at the First Methodist Troop 127 Court of Honor Monday night. His scouting path began in 1951 with Cub Pack 116 at Lincoln School and included 11 merit badges and leadership roles. He has served as Senior Patrol Leader and is active in church youth activities, band, and local swimming programs. the Eagle was presented by Tim Bawden of the Iowa Illinois Scout Council.

Dog Marshall Orders Charges on Dogs Running Loose
Muscatine County authorities instruct dog marshals to file charges against owners of dogs at large in the city and county after three dogbite reports in four days. Many dogs lack licenses or rabies vaccines per assessors records. Violations include no license running at large and no vaccination with penalties up to $100 fine or 30 days in jail.

Break-in at Moscow home steals beer and glasses
Five six packs of beer and numerous glasses were stolen from Fred Thurston’s Moscow residence in a Sunday night break-in after 9 p m. Doors to cupboards and the refrigerator were opened. In another sheriff’s report a 16 foot work boat named Quichita was stolen from a Muscatine Island gravel pit yard and later found damaged. Four Autos Damaged in Muscatine Street Crashes
Muscatine police report two crashes on Monday injuring no one. At 5:25 p.m. Gary Sorenson and Ernest Morgan, both from Davenport and Fairfield respectively, collided on Mississippi Drive causing damage to Sorenson’s right rear fender and Morgan’s left front fender. Later at 12:30 p.m. Marion Snyder of 1716 Bryan Ave and Robert Krueger of Fairfield damaged only Krueger’s right front when he struck a traffic signal pole as traffic flow affected his control.
