Contagious Cerebrospinal Meningitis Linked to Cattle Findings
A Iowa Health Officers meeting discussed new evidence that cerebrospinal meningitis may be contagious and affect cattle as well as humans. Dr. Paul Shekwana cited experiments showing infection from cow brains to rabbits, and officials urged garbage burning to curb disease spread. The report notes uncertainty about direction of transmission but confirms meningitis in both species and emphasizes public health vigilance.
