Washington reports official word that peace talks will convene in the capital. Secretary Loeb, directing the President, confirms Washington as the meeting site after the two governments failed to agree on Chefoo or Paris and after considering The Hague. Minister Takahira met the President for over an hour.
Nebraska Governor Mickey spoke at Iowa Wesleyan College Mt Pleasant Iowa on June 15. Bishop McCabe gave a lecture in the morning chapel drawing a large audience. Bishop Warren of Denver joined in the afternoon talks. That night the Elijah oratorio directed by Dr Rommel featured soloists Minnie Fish Griffith Ella Mary Belden Glen Hall Edwin Bowden and a conservatory chorus.

Des Moines details that the Iowa supreme court yesterday overruled the petition for rehearing in the biennial elections case. By denying the rehearing the court permanently establishes the biennial election system in Iowa.
Mary Bogner of West Washington street Fairfield Iowa was cleaning clothes near a stove when gasoline ignited causing a violent explosion. She sustained severe burns and was taken to Burlington hospital where doctors fear she may die.
William Butler Woodbridge, a Boston business leader, was killed and three others injured when their automobile crashed into a barbed wire fence in Saugus early today. The accident occurred near Lynn on June 15 as the car overturned after the collision.
