Board on board fence adds privacy to yard plan
The Muscatine Journal notes land costs rise and recommends maximizing yard use with tall back yard fences. The board on board pattern is strong, dimensional, and adaptable to traditional or contemporary homes. It uses vertical boards over framing with a one inch overlap, 4x4 posts, 2x4 rails, and a cap board. cedar or Douglas fir are suggested, finished with paint or stain. Colors favored include natural wood, desert sand, weathered gray, or white with glare caution. Fence texture should match siding, and a planting strip at the base softens transitions to landscaping with shrubs tall plants and climbers to reduce perceived height.
