Brockway Claims Railroads Violated ICC Rules on Livestock Pickup
J M Brockway representing about 1200 Iowa truckers testified at a two day ICC hearing in Rock Island Illinois that railroads exceeded the ten mile pickup radius for livestock destined for Chicago and other markets. He described an incident where he posed as a producer and was told the stock would be picked up. A Dubuque Packing Co representative urged suspending pickup limits as packers moved livestock directly to Chicago plants reducing stock receipts at local yards.
