Demurrer In Case Upheld In Probate Dispute
An opinion upholds a demurrer in a case where Paul Camp sues Bert G. Henhan as executor and First Trust & Savings Bank as trustee over a will of Christan Blockart. The original bequest of $4,000 to each grandchild was changed to a trust with fixed monthly payments, creating ambiguity about beneficiaries including a German sister-in-law. The court’s view focuses on a construction of the instrument and its inconsistent provisions.

Enlistments Shrink Draft Registration Figures
Washington reports that only about 750000 of the anticipated million registrants were recorded as of June 1917. Officials cite enlistments in the army navy and marine corps as the main reason for a lower than expected roll, with hopes that 460000 to 600000 new draftees will emerge from current enrollments and local boards' reports continue. The draft officials deny a full registration and note strong patriotic response nationwide.
