Muscatine Y Teens to Attend Summer Conference
The Iowa State Y-Teen Summer Conference for ninth to 12th graders runs June 8 to 14 at Simpson College in Indianola. About 270 Y-Teens attend, including 24 from Muscatine, with the theme Ive Gotta Be Me. The event, run by the YWCA, aims to foster responsible membership among women and girls of diverse backgrounds through creative arts and audio visuals. Keystone AOK installs new officers here
Keystone AOK met Wednesday evening with Mrs. Gene Ryan at 2800 Mulberry to install new officers. Mrs. G F Fisher, retiring president, presided as roll call noted 16 members answering the question How do you get away from it all. A book review by Mrs. C. J. Hufford covered But Will It Sell by Marya Mannes and a program by Mrs. Lawrence Hoffman themed Our Right to Privacy with Mrs. Max Collins as cohostess. Past Presidents of the Lady Elks met for a luncheon at the Elks home where seven members and one guest were present. prizes went to Mable Leedy and Eva Miller. The next meeting is July 1 at Mary Federlein’s home in Oskaloosa with a noon luncheon. speakers include consultant Mary Federlein and regional staff Martha Becker and Sally Rigler with several Muscatine attendees listed. A separate note lists many Muscatine participants and Ruth Dawson leading a lesson at Park Avenue United Methodist church Women’s Society of Christian Service, which met with 15 members. 51 attended the May breakfast and the group planned to serve at Head-Start on June 20, appointing Bea Stammer as committee chair and voting a $10 donation to Rust College. Get-well card sent to Mrs. Mabel Shepherd. Dorothy Dickinson and Pauline Wolf hosted.
