Rotary Club Awards Two Full Scholarships

The Rotary club of Muscatine grants full tuition one-year scholarships at Muscatine Community College to Lynnn Truitt and Rick Berlin. Truitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Truitt of 1616 Cedar, and Berlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Berlin of 611 Iowa Avenue, were among the 1967 graduates of Muscatine High School. The program, part of the club’s youth support efforts, honors outstanding local students.

Reusswig Named to Head Civil Design for Stanley

Fred W. Reusswig was named Head of the Civil Design Group at Stanley Consultants, overseeing hydraulics, structural, sanitary and transportation design. He remains chief hydraulic engineer and brings a MS from MIT, multiple state PE licenses, and membership in ASCE and NSPE. He joined the firm in 1963, led hydraulics, contributed to five hydroelectric plants, and received Liberia’s Knight Commander decoration for Mt. Coffee project.

Two Graduates At Wisconsin and Iowa Wesleyan

Kathy Jane TeStrake of 718 Le roy Sr and Robert George Rohwer Jr of Rt 3 earned Bachelor of Science degrees at Wisconsin commencement this morning. More than 3,600 students received diplomas. Carole Reesink of Muscatine Route 4 and Myrtle Marlene Griffin of Columbus Junction Route 3 earned Bachelor of Science in mathematics and Bachelor of Arts in elementary education at Iowa Wesleyan College’s 125th anniversary commencement, with seniors from 15 states and three foreign countries.

The Rev. J. Paul Stevens is the new pastor of the First Evangelical United Brethren church in Muscatine. He arrives after four years at the BE. U. B. church in Lansing. Stevens succeeds Rev. Ray Thompson. His wife Helen and three children Timothy 15 Marianne 13 and Kathryn 6 accompany him.

Muscatine cops trip to State Pistol Shoot at Camp Dodge

Six members of the Muscatine Police department traveled Sunday to Camp Dodge in Des Moines for the State Pistol Shoot sponsored by Town Chiefs of Police and Peace Officer's Assn. The Muscatine four man team included Gerald Barclay Ronnie Martin Ronald King and Clifford Bennett. Individu al competitors were Jack Hitman and Charles Thomas. Patrolmen reported an enjoyable trip.

Oil Painting Class Starts Here Wednesday

Mrs. Michael Meyers will commerce her oil painting class this week Wednesday from 1 30 to 4 pm in the Laura Musser Art Gallery and Museum studio. The Muscatine County Museum and Fine Arts Association sponsors the museum projects and provides turpentine and lucite crystals.

Two Contestants Announced For Miss Muscatine 1967 Pageant

Cheryl Gillmore and Sue Stock are among 13 contestants announced for the Miss Muscatine pageant to be held June 16 and 17 1967. Gillmore 18 a Muscatine High School graduate will perform singing as her talent and plans to use scholarship funds for Cedar Rapids X-ray Technician School. Stock 18 a Lone Tree resident and Muscatine Community College freshman will perform an interpretive reading as her talent and would use the scholarship at Muscatine Community College. Both are sponsored by local businesses Poole Transfer and Montgomery Ward.

St Mathias Fun Festival Aided by Large Attendance

St Mathias school grounds hosted a Sunday fun festival with dinner supper and games. Andrea Keller won the grand prize with Judy Kallberg taking second. Charles Rehwaldt Robert Fuller and George Dwyer shared other prizes. The Baltimore Orioles drew strong crowds in Minnesota in 1966 totaling 207254 at games with the Twins.
