Major flood control project advances near Muscatine
Work continues on a $1,099,000 flood control project south of Muscatine to repair a flank levee breach and complete a new pumping station. The project, begun May 1967 by Lorisin Construction and managed with the Rock Island corps of engineers, aims to drain 50,000 acres and stabilize drainage before spring thaws with three pumps and diesel and propane engines. Completion is slated for late 1969, with operation transferred to Muscatine Louisa Drainage District No. 13.

Pearlman party tours Chicago and training in flight school
25 Years Ago Dr and Mrs J L Pearlman spent three days in Chicago where he attended a dental convention. A group of 20 new flying students arrived at Muscatine airport for secondary training and about 85 more will come for elementary training, Walter Stowdt announced. Ensign John H Hafner left for San Francisco after visiting his mother at 113 East Fifth Street.
