In Baker City Oregon on December 26 citizens plan a popular subscription to buy a wedding present for Miss Alice Roosevelt to be wed to Congress man Longworth. Plans include state lists with funds sent to state treasurers then to the treasury in Washington. Subscriptions close February 8 with about $800,000 targeted. Individual contributions capped at 10 cents.
Fire this morning at the Exchange hotel in Uniontown forced about 150 guests to flee in their night clothes. The blaze caused heavy damage. no lives lost. Estimated loss about 60,000 dollars. In Little Rock Arkansas a adjacent block was destroyed totaling around 100,000 dollars with Ired Rosch carriage repository as largest casualty.
Pittsburg, December 26. W. S. Corey did not return home for Christmas and negotiations for peace between the steel corporation president and his wife are believed ended.
