Alfred H Lewis dies noted author and political writer

Alfred H Lewis, newspaper man and prolific author, died today at his brother Kert’s home after a short illness. Born in Cleverland many years ago, he began newspaper work in Kruhsan City in 1896, wrote political articles, novels and western tales, and served as Washington correspondent for the Chicago Times and later Hearst papers. He authored works including Wolfville The Sunset Trail and The Boss and is survived by two brothers who control the Working Telegraph publishing house. He was unmarried.

Wireless Plant of British Steamer Seized at Balboa

Canal Zone officials report that the wireless equipment on the British steamer Protesilaus, at Balboa harbor, was dismantled by canal zone police on December 10 after evidence of code messaging. Colonel Goethals says two neutrality violations were reported, one involving a ship without clearance and another using wireless within the canal zone.
