Guest statute challenged in Iowa Supreme Court
Iowa's guest statute, shielding vehicle owners from most passenger damage claims, is under constitutional challenge at the Iowa Supreme Court. The case, tied to a Floyd County accident involving Larry Strauser and Johnny Bryant, questions whether the law violates state and federal equal protection. A second Keasling v Thompson matter, arising from a 1969 Hedrick incident, argues the statute denies recovery for simple negligence.
