Two Plead in Liquor Case on Nuisance Charge
Henry Juergens and Everett Burke faced liquor nuisance charges after a county state raid on an island near Fairport. Juergens pleaded guilty, paid 300 dollars plus costs, and received 90 days jail with parole for good behavior. Burke was dismissed. Frank W. Ranberger also pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and a 300 dollar fine with costs, suspended and paid in jail if needed.

Conesville resident Albert M. Abe Gay 52 shot himself Saturday night at home. Coroner W. S. Norton ruled no inquest. The shotgun discharge torn the arm and he bled to death after collapsing near the heart. Sheriff Nesper and deputies inspected the scene.

Four persons were killed in three separate plane crashes in South Dakota over the weekend. Robert French, 30, his wife, and their 8 year old son died when his plane crashed from about 400 feet in Mitchell. Glen Runchey, 30, co owner of Runchey Bakery in Madison, died in a Madison crash when his plane stalled on landing after a suspected stall. Witnesses noted Frenchs aircraft banked sharply and sideslipped before impact.

Five Iowans Die In Weekend Accidents
The Associated Press reports five Iowans died in weekend accidents across the state and several others were hospitalized in critical condition. Edgar Paschke, 24, Le Mars, died in a rollover near Sloan en route to a bowling tournament. Edith Verner, 17, Spencer, died from a neck fracture after a fall from a car following a dance. Curtis Pierce, 18, Clarinda, died when a wagon he rode in was struck in fog by a car driven by John Driftmeir. August Jacobs, 35, Burlington, was struck by an automobile near Kirkwood and died weeks later. Jeff Knepper, 14, Ames, died from a gunshot wound after a hunting accident with Richard Olson. Olson not charged. Injuries reported in Newton and Kellogg.
