Three men died and a fourth was dying after a boiler exploded at a lumber camp eight miles north of Hagerstown Maryland on August 27.

Union Pacific motor car No 12 completed a nonstop 570 mile run from Omaha to Denver in 15 hours 34 minutes, beating the Denver fast train time of 17 hours 15 minutes as a test of long distance speed endurance.
One man was dangerously injured and 65 persons were shaken up when a Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul passenger train struck a street car at a North La Crosse crossing this morning.

Charles E Andrews of Elkhart Indiana shot Inda Ethel Blaine at the Saratoga hotel in Chicago then killed himself. Police say Andrews deserted his wife and family five years ago in Elkhart and lived with Blaine as his wife. The woman was typing a letter when she was killed. Andrews died en route to a hospital.
