Muscatine Eyes Riverfront Park With Government Help
Muscatine could obtain a large riverfront park using a $10,000 government appropriation for harbor infilling if the city builds a retaining wall. Clinton Park was examined as a model, with Clinton’s wall costing about $15,000 and total improvements near $40,000, a budget Muscatine hopes to match. The council session tonight will consider authorizing the city’s share, with residents backing the plan and a substantial riverfront park extending hundreds of feet along the Mississippi slated if approved.
