Hoffman Nominated on 193rd Ballot at Clinton Convention
After 102 ballots Muscatine Scott Clinton and Jackson delegates stuck to their choices until G. M. Titus moved to adjourn to 7 pm. On the first ballot after reassembly William Hoffman won with 66 votes as Muscatine Johnson and Scott united for him, securing an unanimous nomination and support from the district.

He reported their inquiry about the murder to officers, who then intensified their search. The two men were captured about 20 miles northeast of Wilton. the entire outfit is now in the sheriff’s custody. Fox’s tip linked to a former horse-trading gang member and hinted at a possible past association. The suspects carry a large quantity of inexpensive jewelry in two canvas cases.
