Danners Show Champion Steer at Great Jones County Fair
Ralph Danner and sons from Muscatine swept the 29th annual prime steer contest at Monticello's Great Jones County Fair. The grand champion steer weighed 1 450 pounds, earned $100 for first place and a large trophy, then sold to the Anamosa Sale Barn for 2 per hundredweight. The event drew 44 entries from Iowa Illinois and Wisconsin.

Valley Fair 4H winners sweep Davenport show
Area winners at Valley Fair led by Rob Bohnsack 15 of New Liberty who earned best showman and several top sheep honors at the Mississippi Valley Fair in Davenport. Pam Bohnsack and others from New Liberty and Muscatine earned ribbons in purebred ewe and horse and pony classes.

Two Local Music Groups Set For State Fair
Wilson Studios of Muscatine and the Westtones Swing Choir from Muscatine West Junior High will perform at the Discover Iowa State Fair. Wilson Studios at 3 15 p m Thursday Aug 24 at the Plaza bandstand stage. Swing choir shows at 11 a m and 1 p m Monday Aug 21 at the Variety Theater. The acts are among more than sixty five high school musical groups planned for swing choirs swing bands and marching bands July 18 27 on the Grand Concourse and Plaza bandstand with other events augmenting entertainment.
