Secretary Wesley Russell predicts 25,000 telegraphists will be out by tonight across the nation. The labor situation expands with rumors of Postal Cable Co. operators striking, though company officers deny the claim.
Chicago reports three AP leased wires active at 7 am with better service while a New York to St Paul line started. Labor leaders including President Gompers met to settle the strike as little progress occurred by 1 34. Des Moines notes operators to observe agreements and hints at a nationwide shutdown unless settlements are reached.
Washington Iowa August 12 Special Everett Looney an alleged rapist is wanted at Sigourney He is charged with criminally assaulting a 13 year old girl at Keota He is described as about 21 years old light complexion stooped smooth faced and about five feet eight inches tall
In Belfast near the Cullingtree street barracks a pitched battle between troops and strikers left two dead and multiple wounded. Soldiers fired on the mob as stones and missiles were thrown, while hospitals report heavy casualties among strikers and injures to police and militiamen.
In Onancock Virginia on August 13 a race riot escalated as a grocery store owned by Samuel Burton a Black man and a building housing Peninsula Times run by James Azzle were set aflame and torched with gasoline. The ringleaders Burton and Azzle vanished. Notices ordered 50 Black families to leave town overnight. several had already departed including a church preacher.
Paris reports Sassig, a Moroccan port town, surrounded by rebels. In Tangiers four thousand Moors assaulted the fortress yesterday, were repulsed after a desperate charge. French bayonets and harbor warships inflicted heavy damage on the attackers.

Some cases involve under fourteen year olds employed others cite missing postings and parental approval. Expect pleads of guilty and light fines. more firms may face action if violations continue. Shepard tours Iowa enforcing the act and will return in about two weeks.
Details from Appleton Wisconsin dated August 13 indicate the planned paper combine will be across print and ground wood mills Manila paper and sulphite plants. George A Whiting of Whiting Paper company Menasha confirms the deal and says efforts aim to merge all plants producing products from wood into one large company.

Council Bluffs resident Mrs. Geo Stroud of 197 Glen street was seriously injured yesterday afternoon when gasoline caused a nearly fatal fire. Firemen extinguished the blaze and she was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
