Many Veterans Fail To Convert Government Life Insurance
Iowa veterans hold 66 000 NSLI term policies worth 486.8 million yet more than half have not converted to permanent plans. E W Christensen of the Des Moines VA Center warns premiums rise with age for term policies while permanent plans maintain stable rates and offer loans cash value and extended benefits. Officials urge applying for Certificates of Eligibility now to ensure GI Bill benefits align with school start dates and avoid payment delays.
