Shirley Beverly and Janet Freyer muth of Muscatine balance mama student roles with skydiving, joining a male dominated sport. Janet, a 1st year Sul freshman, and Shirley, 26, have logged 27 and 28 jumps respectively. Both trained locally. Janet’s father Bob pilots for Hawkeye State Parachute Team, brother Charlie jumps at the State University of Town. An upcoming five state regional contest at the local airport May 99.40.31 will draw about 200 jumpers, though Shirley and Janet must wait as they gain experience.

Unusual Mennonite Missionary Help Rebuild Flooded Kentucky Town

In West Point Ohio River town of 2000, 25 Mennonites with Red Cross tools cleared mud from 22 houses and a church after the spring flood. Twelve Mennonites from Elkhart, Indiana remain daily aiding the aged and helpless, part of the Mennonite Disaster Service. They plan to donate about 1800 in rebuilding Ward. Local residents praise their aid as divine assistance.

West Liberty Girl Wins Special Merit Scholarship

Lynanne Williams of West Liberty was chosen among 12 high school seniors for the Iowa State University Special Merit Scholarship for fall 1984. The daughter of Rev and Mrs Dale J Williams, she maintains a 3.0 grade average and meets app eligibility. Recipients were selected from 1008 applicants based on high school records and potential, not need.
