Moscow public anger erupts as Pravda denounces Mao Zedong regime, accusing Beijing of plotting unrest in the Soviet Union and seeking nuclear weapons. The front page blames China for challenging Khrushchev's peaceful coexistence and calls for a show down meeting among world Communist parties.
Governor William A. Egan travels to Juneau to press a joint legislative session for a 50 million emergency bond to aid earthquake damaged Alaskan cities. President Johnson seeks swift Congress approval of 30 million. Senator Henry Jackson predicts up to 200 million with a retroactive disaster insurance proposal. Alaska’s Sen. Gerald Kimble 21 of Morning Sun died on arrival at a Burlington hospital after a two car crash on Highway 61 north of Burlington late Thursday. Roger Hane 19 of Sperry was in fair condition. Clay Dean 22 of Wapello in critical condition. Kimble, a Morning Sun High School 1962 graduate, married Nancy Kere in February. Services are set at Pierre funeral home in Morning Sun.
A $10,000 reward was offered today for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer or killers of Ramona Cox. Des Moines area secretary, April 29, 1962. The slaying in her near downtown Des Moines apartment is Iowa's No 1 murder mystery as County Attorney Harry Perkins says investigators continue the case.

He noted the session cost about $100,000 since March 18 and urged a solid plan within hours after reconvening. Fire at a two story frame home at 614 Spring Street Masctine caused heavy damage today. Owner N F Dillon. fire started in the attic about 1 20 pm. Residents James Ash Mrs Billie Whitehall and four children along with Mrs Marvin Crabtree and four children and Mrs Everett Lewis with two children fled safely. One occupant was away at the time.

Secretary of State Dean Rusk said the United States is ready to work closely with Brazil's new government on economic and social development as President Johnson congratulated Ranieri Mazzilli on Brazil's constitutional transition. Rusk noted Goulart was ousted by a coalition of military, Congress and governors to preserve constitutional order and warned Cuba may see the police apparatus loosened. Undersecretary George Ball called the upheaval remarkable, not a typical coup, and said all factions helped remove Goulart.
Brazil’s anti Communist leaders claim deposed President Joao Goulart fled to Argentina after the revolt. An army spokesman said he left San Borja near the Argentine border bound for Buenos Aires, already in Argentine territory, with his family and Gen Assis Brasil. Argentine officials denied entry to Goulart.
