Murray Eagles mark twentieth anniversary assembly
The Murray Aerie 1760 Fraternal Order of Eagles celebrated its 20th anniversary on March 28 with the largest lodge meeting in history. About 120 of 100 members attended and 20 new members were initiated. Eight veteran medals were awarded to 12 members who have stayed with the Aerie for 20 years. The group aims to reach 200 members soon, honoring long time locals including Ray Arnold and W. J. Warenski, with several awardees unable to attend due to illness or travel. Continued on Page 6.

He advised Maines on protection, arguing branch banks in inadequate quarters invite theft and that safer locations deter criminals. He cited five bank robberies, claiming older makeshift banks posed temptations and that tougher banks deter future heists. Williams said his crime stemmed from an injury that prevented heavy work, leaving him unable to support himself.

Birthday Party for Marshal Brinton Honors Sixth Year

Respected Murray Resident Daniel Smith Dies at 40 Years in Murray
Daniel Smith of Murray died at his home 4029 South State Street on Monday March 23 1825 after a long illness. Born April 14 1780 in England he lived in Utah fifty four years and was a contractor on the American Smelting and Refining works at Murray and helped build the Brigham Young monument. Surviving children include Mannasah Smith Mrs Daniel Mackay Mrs J A Mackay Mrs H W Hansen and Marie Donovan with twenty nine grandchildren and forty one great grandchildren. Funeral services set for Thursday at 1 pm in the Murray First Ward chapel with Bishop E K Bringhorst in charge.
