Murray City Blanket Factory Begins as City Breaks Ground
Groundbreaking for the Murray City Blanket Factory on a ten acre site at Forty-fifth South and Grate Hp Mills drew more than 1000 people. Utah Woolen Mills vice president Colonel W T Adams announced a March 22 start date with a five story bonded warehouse and concrete construction. Factory plans include large daylight windows, steel framing, and a power supply from the Murray municipal plant. The venture expects annual output of 25,000 to 40,000 pairs of blankets using 100 percent wool and creating local industrial momentum.
