Murray City Blanket Factory Begins as City Breaks Ground

Groundbreaking for the Murray City Blanket Factory on a ten acre site at Forty-fifth South and Grate Hp Mills drew more than 1000 people. Utah Woolen Mills vice president Colonel W T Adams announced a March 22 start date with a five story bonded warehouse and concrete construction. Factory plans include large daylight windows, steel framing, and a power supply from the Murray municipal plant. The venture expects annual output of 25,000 to 40,000 pairs of blankets using 100 percent wool and creating local industrial momentum.

Murray City Catholics Attend St Patrick Night Dance

Salt Lake County Buys Magna Property for Fire Station

Salt Lake County has purchased land in Magna near the Gem theatre for a new modern fire station and jail to be built by Utah Copper Company. Fire Chief Douging Harker will direct Magna operations with the Murray City firefighters. White fire truck pumper will move from County Shops to Magna, and a new unit will be provided. Construction starts at once.

Bride to Be Entertained Before Wedding Next Week

Miss Grace Bateman, bride to be, has sparked several social events in the past week. She led a miscellaneous shower by the Mutual Girls of Grant Ward at Miss Gwen Blain’s West 4th South home, with games, music, and gifts for the future home. Several guests helped serve refreshments. She also shared a second shower at Mrs. Wim Johnson’s Union home with sixty one guests, featuring dancing.
