Farm Bureau of Salt Lake County Booster Club to meet Friday at West Jordan School Auditorium. Social gathering with a point meeting. All residents urged to attend with spouses or companions for a worthwhile evening. Skeletal OCR shows date and time details but says Friday evening in January.
Assessor Joseph H. Preece urges Salt Lake County owners and tenants to cooperate with 127 deputies during appraisement time. Request proper ID, avoid delaying the assessor, and provide information when called. Repeated refusal can lead to an arbitrary assessment and a $100 fine.

Salt Lake County firemen announce a Get Acquainted dance at the Sandy Amusement Hall on Friday February 4 at 8 p m to meet the new Chief Douglas Harker with music by the Peerless orchestra to foster fraternal ties and camaraderie.
The Holliday-Irving Senior Prom is planned for tomorrow evening with a late start. The Community Club meets on Wednesday February 2 at 2 15 PM in Goffs Hall, with Mrs George A Wright chairing the Library Board program featuring Mrs Winnifred Brown Knight from McQuune School of Music. Jordan faces Bingham Friday in Jordan Gymnasium in a Bootdig ger-Miner style rivalry game.
Murray First Ward M men met Bennion Ward hoopsters in a doubleheader at Plymouth School Gym Taylorsville on Thursday January 20. Both teams were undefeated in their division with String Taylorsville also unbeaten. Murray started Linette Nielsen West Nelson Morgan and Arch mid guards to face Bennion Ward veterans in a bid for a possible state tourney berth in Salt Lake next spring. Murray Second and Grant ward had beaten them earlier this season. Next they meet Tarlonville at Tarlonville’s floor the following week for another key matchup.
The M Men announce a fundraising film at the Iria Theatre to defray club expenses with support from business leaders and war members. Date and title of the picture are listed in this Eagle issue.
The Murray City 1927 budget was approved Friday night January 21 without protest. Mayor J. Lester will announce timing for the auxiliary power plant and its capacity to take full load if the main plant fails. The aim is complete independence from outside power sources.
A joint dance by the M Men and the Gleaner Girls will take place Tuesday evening February 1 1027 at Grant Ward Hall with all invited to attend.
Murray High School art student Ray Anderson earned second place and £15 in a Salt Lake City area poster art contest sponsored by Bird and Jex Advertisers featuring Cutler Brothers Clothing. The winning posters are on display in Bird and Jex window.
F F Allen the assistant county attorney consented to delay the Pritchett case to test enmity upon defense request. Pritchett, manager of Glen Springs Lead Mining Co, is accused of embezzling 790 dollars. Hearing set for February 7. A Murray to Magna basketball trip will cost students, others charged 90 cents round trip, admission 50 cents.
Murray High defeated Bingham 50 to 41 after a tied game at the end of regulation. Campbell led Murray with sensational shooting and Hilton added key baskets in the overtime as Murray surged to the Jordan district lead amid a large crowd.
Midvale M Men recorded three victories last week beating Granite 26 to 12 Riverton 32 to 12 and Crescent 14 to 10 in a rough high order game Crescent used football rather than basketball and Harrison matched Red Grange while Jack Dempsey-like punches and Bowen’s drop kicks stood out. The M I A Board ruled the champion quint disorganized by losing two guards and six forwards amid youth ineligibility and reorganization concerns. The ruling, seen as unfair, threatens the ward and city players.
Midvale City auditors report a 1926 surplus of 8966.81 after depreciation and note unpaid water assessments totaling 910.89. Docket fines unpaid include 143.00 notes by Jose Jaminnz and 160.00 by Elmer Stokes. Jordan PTA convention underway at Jordan High School with speakers Bennion Mickelson Ider and Cowles. luncheon in cafeteria and expected large turnout.
Riverton resident Earl Blake Garside aged 12 died at home after more than a year of illness. Born August 5 1914, he was the son of Mr and Mrs Agron Garside and survived by five brothers and four sisters, along with his parents.
The Midvale Lions Club held a successful gathering highlighted by Mayor W W Wilson and Dr C C Jensen plus Dr J H Brown from Sandy as guests. Prof and Mrs F G Epperson performed musical numbers. A blind boxing contest amused members while Jordan beat Grantsville 24 to 15 in the league opener.
Mrs J Hakanson announces the marriage of her daughter Arvilla to James H Hellman. The marriage occurred in Salt Lake last week. The couple immediately departed for Los Angeles California.
Marlin Petervon of Ephraim Sanpete County earned best boys club project in 1926, winning a free trip to the International Livestock exposition and Boys and Girls Club congress in Chicago. The note urges youth in Salt Lake County to join livestock clubs, promising support to buy calves sheep or pigs and start earning.
The Sandy Volunteer Firemen and partners gave Mayor W. W. Wilson a surprise party at his home on 1st North Street Tuesday evening. About thirty-five guests attended with music games and refreshments.
The Daughters of Pioneers met at the home of Mrs. George Charlier with Mrs. Charlier and Mrs. Alva Hansen as hostesses. Mrs. E Jensen presented a reading "Whistling in Heaven" and the lesson was led by Mrs. Lillian Bishop. Luncheon was served to about eighteen guests.
The Ladies of the S. S. Club entertained their husbands at a rock party held Thursday evening at Mr. and Mrs. Reg White on Main Street. Prizes were won by Mrs. W. D. Kuhre, Mrs. C. C. Crapo, W. O Boberg and Mrs J. P Jensen. Luncheon was served on small tables to twenty six.
