Mrs Vera Harlow 40 a former Mt Vernon resident died this morning at Doctors Capital in Carbondale after a long illness. She was the wife of Farris Harlow and they lived at Mound City. The body will be taken to Osborn Funeral Home in Dix for funeral services in this county. Arrangements were incomplete today.
Funeral services for Debra Louise Harris nine daughter of Rev Raymond D. and Pauline Harris will be held Saturday at 10 a m at the Arch of Code with Rev F W Goff officiating. Burial is in Bethel Memorial cemetery. The body lies in Myers Chapel and may be viewed after 10 a m Friday with the body to lie in state at the church from 9 a m Saturday until the funeral. Debra died yesterday while visiting Auburn Illinois at the time of death she lived at 410 South 18th Street.
Herman Thomas Ingram 50 of 201 West Cherry McLeansboro died at 2 30 a m at Veterans Hospital Marion. A World War 2 veteran and McLeansboro American Legion member he was born May 5 in Hamilton County. Survived by his father Joseph mother and one son John T his brothers William Harlan and six sisters. Funeral Sunday 2 pm at Ten Mile Baptist Church with Rev Rudolph Slagg officiating. Burial in Ten Mile Cemetery. Body lies in state at Gholson Funeral Home after 6 pm today.
U S Court of Appeals upheld the State Department right to deny passports to those who refuse to sign non Communist oaths. The ruling involved Walter Briehl a Los Angeles prothiatrist and Rockwell Intent an artist who refused to sign non Sova affidavits with their passport applications.
Hospital notes list admissions at Jefferson Memorial including William O Irvin of Cleansboro and several discharges such as Mrs Hattie Mae piece, Mrs Louise Phelps and Baby Joyce Louise from Bluford. GOOD SAMARITAN records show multiple admissions including Mrs Tresia Asbury and John Weir with discharges for Tina Marie Recki and Henry Wiley.
Mr and Mrs John Robert Warren of Dix welcomed a son named James Everett born at 631 last night weighing six pounds nine ounces. Mr and Mrs Andrew Lewis Ellis of Lyons welcomed a son, Denis Rogene, born at 645 last night weighing six pounds nine ounces. Mr and Mrs Gail Bass of 1100 North Street welcomed a daughter named Julia Jeanne born at 743 last night weighing six pounds thirteen ounces.

Palm er was an 17 year old high school honor student. The Rebels gang used two cars and targeted Palmer. Schwartz claimed amnesia about the night. The case also featured testimony about racial motive and threats to others. Nearby Taipei reported Red gunboats shelling Tatan Islet and Kaoteng shells in the Matsu group.
County Treasurer Kenneth Randall received a letter of appreciation from Richard J. Lyons, director of the state department of Revenue, for conduct of a meeting in Mt. Vernon last week. Lyons praised the courteous treatment by Randall and department officials during the Boards of Review gathering at the courthouse, saying such cooperation helps the department make its work effective.
Police said vandals broke a window to enter the Mt. Vernon residence of George Irwin at 1115 Conger Avenue. Irwin is away, and officers could not confirm items stolen until the owner can inspect the house upon return.
