Infant Berst Dies Monday at Samaritan Hospital

Infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl P. Berst died Monday at Samaritan Hospital shortly after birth. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Otho Williams were held at 2:00 p.m. at Horse Run Cemetery in Franklin. Survivors include parents and several siblings.

Illinois U Entrance Requirements Set by Board

Rural Fire Dept Acquires 500 GPM Pump and Resuscitator

The Met Vernon rural fire trustees announced the purchase of a 500 gallons per minute centrifugal pump and a resuscitator inhalator for 2100 dollars. Mounted on No 3 truck, the new pump lets four water lines plus a booster run simultaneously, effectively giving two fully equipped trucks. The portable inhalation unit includes oxygen tanks, masks, and a large hospital oxygen source. The equipment aims to save lives during fires and support first aid for heart and breathing emergencies.
