Laura Estelle Rawls 78 of West Market street McLeansboro died in Pearce Hospital Eldorado Friday. Born September 6 1879 in Hamilton County she married Joe Rawls April 25 1902 at McLeansboro who survives. Funeral Monday at 10 AM First Presbyterian Church McLeansboro with Rev Maulding and Rev Vinton burial Blooming Grove cemetery. Surviving: husband son George, brothers A B Anderson and Wm H Anderson, sister Mrs Madelyn Mattingly. Body in state at Gholson Funeral Home Bielcampers after 2 PM today.

Car Hits Meters and Store on Broadway

Carson Foster, 19, of 212 South 16th Street, skidded on icy Ley Street near Eighth and Broadway last night. His car struck two parking meters and the A and P store building, causing about 400 dollars in damage. Police charged Foster with driving too fast for conditions. Mt. Vernon streets were icy from freezing frost.

Dave Beck Jury Deliberations Continue On Theft Charge

Seattle seven men and five women failed to reach a verdict after seven hours of deliberations in the trial of 63 year old Teamsters leader Dave Beck. The jury recessed overnight with aides to return at 9 a.m. for further consideration of charges he diverted 1900 from a union car sale. Beck, who refused to answer questions before a Senate committee, campaigns on self preservation claims as prosecutors call him a would be great man who sacrificed employees.

Pilson and Benton Nurse Die in Overnight Crash

Sunday death claims Ona Pilson and Benton nurse Ruth Jones in a traffic accident near Dahlgren. Mt Vernon police witnessed the fatal crash after Pilson’s tire went flat. he failed to heed warning and continued. Pilson, born 1908, married to Ruth Jones, survived by wife, mother Minnie Pilson, a son Donnie, a daughter Wilma, six brothers and two sisters. Shopper Passes Our St Louis

An elderly woman on a city bus slumped in her seat and revived only after a police touch. Medical aid tried but she recovered and said she was simply exhausted from Christmas shopping. A priest and a police cruiser were summoned to the scene.
