Homer Scott of Union, Missouri, wanted on a charge of assault to do bodily harm, was returned to Mount Vernon over the weekend by Deputy Sheriff Russell Dalby. Mt Vernon firemen responded four times over the weekend for three minor fires and a gas scare. Saturday saw alarms at J A Drysdale home 913 South Seventh for an overheated fuel oil circulator, a gas odor near the public square alley, and a drop cord short at 25th and Casey. Early Sunday at 723 South 15th Street a fuel oil heater flared out of control with no injuries.
