The National Male Quartet Giulo Gari Attilio Baggiore Vernon Sanders and Bruce Mackay will perform at the Civic Music concert Sunday December 5 at 2 30 in the Mt Vernon Township High School auditorium. They plan a varied program spanning three centuries of American music.
Mr and Mrs Sam Wirts of Evansville Ind announce the birth of a son at 1 pm yesterday at St Marys Hospital weighing eight pounds seven ounces named Thomas Edward Austin. Mr and Mrs Leo Shelby of Barnhill announce an eight pound son born this morning at Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr and Mrs Robert Dale Wilson of Keenes announce a seven pound seven ounce son born at 1136 pm yesterday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital named Charles Edwin.
Associated Press reports Toronto registered its warmest December 3 on record at 52 degrees, surpassing the previous high of 51 set in 1914. Weather Bureau officials confirmed the new record yesterday.
In Cairo on December 4 police said Chief Selim Zak Pasha died after an explosion during a student riot near Fuad University. Four hundred protesters and guards were injured or detained as ambulances ferried the wounded. Demonstrators demanded Sudanese and Palestinian independence and denounced Premier Nokrashy.
The Illinois Republican State Central Committee names ten members to craft a constructive program for rebuilding the party as GOP officials leave office. Sheriff J Chris Johnson and Deputy Russell Dalby brought back Howard B Pollard 20 of Alton Illinois from Little Rock yesterday afternoon. Pollard is wanted on a charge of operating a confidence game to obtain a number of new automobile tires from Mount Vernon dealers. County authorities identified him as the man.
Firemen extinguished a blaze that started under a fireplace in a second floor apartment at 701 Jordan Street owned by Julia Rutherford. The fire broke out at 4 58 p m yesterday in apartment occupied by Mary Hughey. Smoke seeped through the floor and firefighters used axes to reach the fire.

On the John Gilroy farm in Rock Falls Illinois two ancient skulls were uncovered by George K Neumann assistant professor of anthropology at Indiana University. The skulls belong to an 18 year old girl and a 45 year old man of the Shell Midden people who lived 1000 BC to 900 AD in the Mississippi Valley and eastern United States.
