Young Man Hurt When Truck Turns Over On Highway

Donald Bufkin, 21, of Waltonville Road, was injured at 5 15 p m yesterday when a pickup truck he drove overturned twice on Waltonville Road southwest of Mt Vernon. He suffered severe shock a head injury and facial cuts and was taken to Jefferson County Memorial Hospital where he remained this morning. He left the highway to avoid hitting a car on the state road and the vehicle struck the shoulder and rolled into a small ditch.

Truman Plans Multi Billion Tax on Profit

President Truman proposed a multi billion tax plan draining about 700 million from individuals in the last quarter of this year and boosting corporate taxes by 1.5 billion. The plan would lift corporate taxes to around 12 billion and tax unrelated business activities of tax exempt groups like educational and charitable organizations.

Boys Play with Gun, One Killed in Ill. House Incident

Associated Press report from Rock Island Illinois details a deadly accident as nine year old Harold Johnson and nine year old Robert Johnson play at the home of Roland Wohlers. Robert finds a German automatic pistol, aims at the ceiling, then Harold, and a single shot mortally wounds Harold. Police deem no charges due to age.

American F-80 jets blasted Seoul rail yards and a pontoon bridge across the Han River. Far East Air Forces reported heavy Red Korean flak, while bomb strikes hit Pyongyang arsenal and railyards and Wonsan coastal targets.
