Local residents and relatives filled a wide circular of visits from West Frankfort to St Louis and Des Moines. Many people traveled to fairs, family weddings, and church gatherings while others returned from trips to Pennsylvania Maryland Texas and Illinois towns including Benton Belleville Champaign and Mt Vernon.

Hank Williams, famed for Lovesick Blues, will appear at the Mt Vernon Drive-In Theatre on Wednesday August 9 with the Drifting Cowboy Band.
