Barbourville Kentucky June 22 1918 letter from Caleb Powers’ brother endorsing Judge J M Robsion for Congress in the district. The note praises Robsion as loyal to the Republican Party and commends his long-standing support of Powers and his campaigns.
A correspondent accuses Edwards of years of opposition and backing opponents in multiple races. He notes Edwards opposed his brother, alleges Edwards aided Bertram in Laurel county and later backed Seavy in 1912. The writer claims the Powers family and local friends favor the addressed candidate and urge health and success in the race.
A 1918 correspondence reveals J M Robsion receiving strong personal support from labor figure John Jeffrey of Pittsburg Kentucky who credits Robsion with aiding miners in Knox County. A letter from Judge Wm Lewis of Manchester dated July 8 1918 pledges support for Robsion and notes no endorsement of Edwards. The exchange centers on Laurel County voters and campaign loyalties.
