Mt Vernon Fair Exhibition A Great County Show

The Mt. Vernon Fair association opened with strong attendance despite rain. About 8000 visitors over three days enjoyed top horse displays, 400 plus floral hall exhibits, and crafts from farm garden orchard and culinary arts. Officials President Chas. Davis and Secretary E. R. Gentry led a successful effort praised by participants and attendees.

Premium Awards First Day Highlights Farm Exhibit

The Agriculture Department lists extensive prize results with many exhibitors led by Wheat C. Lair and Rebecca Cummins. Winners across crops, fruits, vegetables, preserves, baked goods, and live stock include J. S. McClure for beets and J. H. Coffey for black grapes, with numerous names from Lincolnton and Nicholasville noted for trophies and ribbons.

Local Horse and Mule Racing Event Results Highlight Purses

Cedarville Notes On Weather Crops And Local News

Cedarville reports heavy rains helping crops with expected 20 percent more corn and Irish potatoes up 6 percent. Ump Mize suffered a dangerous injury from a dipping ax accident. Mt. Vernon fair deemed the best yet with a large crowd and friendly atmosphere. Bill John Whitaker purchased a yoke of work cattle for 90 dollars and planned logging on Rockcastle river. Dr Owens sold his engine boiler and grist mill on Eagle Quail section.
