Judge E W Senff chairs the Montgomery War Savings Committee planning a June 24 to June 28 drive to pledge $257 840 in War Savings Stamps for 1918. The campaign targets county residents and notes a $834 per person limit with stamps redeemable anytime for four percent interest. A women’s committee led by Miss Georgie V Sledd oversees the effort, urging all to buy the limit, listing several early backers.
Gov. A O Stanley announces a state reward of 100 for the arrest and conviction of George Kemper colored for the murder of his wife in this county two weeks ago. Reports place Kemper in various parts of the county and city, including Cincinnati where he formerly lived.
County seeks bids by June 29 4 pm for erection of a school building on County High School grounds. Board may reject any bid. Each bidder must file a 5 percent certified check. Plans by architect John V Moore Lexington Ky on file with Superintendent. Secretary J T McCormick announces.
A military sub committee approved a house provision authorizing the President to call all draft age men who can be trained and equipped. The measure passed as part of the appropriation discussion reported by The Advocate for printing.
